EDITH'S FRESH APPLE CAKE

2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups oil
1 12 oz. pkg butterscotch drops
3 cups self-rising flour
1 tsp soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
4 cups diced fresh apples

Mix all ingredients (except butterscotch drops) and fold in apples last.

Pour into lightly greased pan and press butterscotch drops in top.  Bake at 350 for 50 minutes and 10 minutes more at 300.
